The GreenFire Rooftop Terrace

Until the invention of the GreenFire™ Rooftop Terrace, a roof did little more than keep the rain and weather off. With the advent of the GreenFire Rooftop Terrace, the roof has evolved into a whole new world of possibilities and has become the center of everything GreenFire.

The Rooftop Terrace supports full elevated gardens, fountains, fishponds, hot tubs, fire pits, rooftop kitchens, and grape arbors as well as the important job of elevating utilities above flooding waters. It is unique in all the World.

We are only beginning to discover it's enormous and compelling potential. While it is obviously a different structure than the peaked roofs of ordinary homes –it is also a completely different structure than the tar paper roofs of commercial buildings. The GreenFire™ roof is a single structural concrete monolith of tremendous strength designed and engineered from the beginning to serve as an elevated patio and terrace.

The Unique Rooftop Terrace Architecture

The beautiful banisters, railings, moldings in infinite styles draws the eyes upward and completes the architectural art of every GreenFire™ both vertically and horizontally. In comparison, ordinary homes with asphalt shingle roofs seem drab and unfinished. In the coming months, we will be introducing dozens and eventually hundreds of new designs that capitalize on this, our exclusive architectural signature.

One of the World’s Finest View Homes

The Rooftop Terrace turns the GreenFire™ into a spectacular view home without equal. Elevated 3 stories above the surrounding countryside, the Terrace offers the owners a full 360 degree panorama of scenery below. Scenic settings take on a whole new dimensions and interesting sites such as golf courses, wilderness areas, or beach-front properties can provide lifetimes of entertainment.

Nighttime

Nighttime on the Rooftop Terrace has a special ambience all its own. Gentle red and blue lights, selected to enhance nighttime vision, illuminate only the floor giving focus to a sight many have forgotten – the stars and constellations of the night sky. Whether in solitude, by intimate candlelight for two, or a dance party under the stars, the nighttime Rooftop Terrace is unforgettable.

Parties and the Rooftop Terrace

Few homes can begin to match the GreenFire™ and the Rooftop Terrace for parties for several reasons: First, the floor plan allows guests to reach the Rooftop Terrace without traversing the private areas of the host’s home. Guests enter the front door to the Great Room. From there, guests straight to the Rooftop Terrace from the 3 story elevator. Second, the rooftop kitchen, rooftop organic gardens, hot tub, and optional water fountain have a tremendous natural ‘garden party’ ambience (with a 360˚ view 35’ in the air). Finally, the Rooftop Terrace has the size to handle large parties of 200 or more guests for an open air event (day or night) with plenty of room inside if the weather turns bad – again without opening private areas to guests.

Security, Privacy, and the Rooftop Terrace

The patio door has always been known as the favored entry point for intruders. We have not only eliminated the patio doors, we have moved the patio to the roof. The more secure elevated Rooftop Terrace in combination with our standard automatic steel shutters on all ground level windows create one of the most naturally secure homes in the World.

The height of the Rooftop Terrace also secures privacy for GreenFire™ owners. This can be especially important in high density areas or where hot tubs, parties, and sunbathing are an important part of the culture.

The Environmental Isolation Room

Every year hundreds of people in America alone are killed by carbon monoxide from the leaky flues of home furnaces and hot water heaters. We are convinced that this is only the tip of the iceberg and that carbon monoxide in lower than lethal doses is responsible for much of the ‘flue like’ symptoms of headache, nausea, and vomiting people experience. At slightly higher concentrations, carbon monoxide causes oxygen starvation to the brain (a ‘dull’ feeling) and even permanent fetal brain damage.

We eliminate all such potentially serious health problems by creating a special isolated utility room on the rooftop sealed from the rest of the home, in which we locate the backup furnace, the water heater, solar batteries, inverters, and all other potential health hazards.

The Environmental Importance of the Rooftop Terrace

We are only beginning to discover the benefits to the environment created by the Rooftop Terrace. First, the footprint of the GreenFire™ with the Rooftop Terrace is much smaller than the footprint of the traditional home + patio + lawn. Less land needs to be cleared and, as a result, the environmental impact can be reduced to a minimum. Second, because the ‘patio’ is 2 or 3 stories above the ground, a GreenFire Home becomes an elevated wildlife viewing platform and can be placed in active wildlife areas without danger to either wildlife or people. Third, eliminating the traditional lawn and replacing it with our Rooftop Garden not only conserves water, it can preserve the natural landscape and the indigenous wildlife. Finally, if our environmental guidelines are followed, a new kind of development can be created with the first True Zero Environmental Impact Wildlife Preservation Homes in the World in which GreenFire™ homes not only coexist with nature, but enhance the owner’s participation with nature.
